‘Bloemhof 6’ is part of Teeuwen’s Destroyed House series. Here, she explores themes such as reconstruction, loss, and memory through architectural installations. In this work, she converts demolitions into the opposite, breathing second life into the buildings. Collecting debris and fragments of the walls, ceilings, and floors, she creates rhythmic, repetitive sculptures. This way, the work beautifully communicates the monumental chaos with the monochromatic order. The photograph captures the impact of time, emphasizing that human endeavors are temporary. Just like the destroyed houses, Teeuwen’s installations will turn to dust, saying to the viewer ‘memento mori’.
