The Dutch artist Hadassah Emmerich explores the commodification of the exotic and the erotic with regards to the body, sexuality and the sensual in her artworks. These elements
can thus be observed in her work “Creole Collidoscope.” The vibrant painting, rich in colours, thematizes the exotic in an abstract manner, leaving room for interpretation and imagination. The viewer gets swallowed by the bright colours and patterns which alternately feel overwhelming and hypnotizing. Emmerich’s visualization of the exotic goes hand-in hand with the sensual and provides her audience with an immersive experience.
