Thomas Pihl
Thomas Pihl was born in Bergen, Norway, and currently lives in both Bergen and New York. Before focusing on his professional art career, he studied in several universities and art academies in New York and Oslo. As one of the most influential Norwegian artists in his generation, Thomas Phil depicts unique colors by adding and mixing countless paint layers on his canvases. His works are known for their monochromatic approach. He aims to create large, monochromatic paintings that evoke emotions of the audience not just by the infrequency of the colors but also by the light and small color translations shown in the painting. His works have been exhibited in many major art events worldwide. Today, he also works as an Associate Professor at the Art Academy’s Institute for Contemporary Art, the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design (KMD) in Bergen.
