Sam Werkhoven
Sam Werkhoven is a Dutch artist born in 1997. A recent graduate from the
Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht, Werkhoven was selected for the
“Best of Graduates 2023” exhibition at Galerie Ron Mandos. Sam
Werkhoven’s work centers around his fascination with light. Responding
and reconnecting with works from art history, he creates a dialogue
between the past and the present. One of the stark examples is his sky
series, in which he connects with the Dutch painters of the 17th century on
a topic of Dutch light. Currently participating at Dooyewaard residency, he
is growing in recognition across the Netherlands as an aspiring artist.
