Richard Meitner
Richard Meitner is a glass designer who was born in Philadelphia, USA. After his studies at the University of California, Berkeley, he moved to Amsterdam and started studying at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy of Art and Design. He is usually known for his glass sculptures. In 1976, collaborating with Mieke Groot, he started his hot glass studio in Amsterdam, and in his later life, he supervised and worked in the glass art studies department of several universities in Europe. His art is prominently influenced by French Surrealism. In his works, he often aims to question perceived beauty. His artworks have been exhibited in many notable institutions such as Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the Museum of Glass in the U.S.
