Krijn Kroes
Krijn Kroes is a Dutch artist born in Zwolle in 1994. He graduated from Fine Art HKU in Utrecht, and is known as a multidisciplinary artist, working with paintings and ceramics—his repertoire balances between abstraction and figuration. Fascinated by the impact light has on one’s perception, he explores the lack of it in his works. When we can’t see clearly, our mind tends to fill in the gaps. Particularly this phenomenon drives Kroes’ artistic style. His control of brush strokes navigates the way in which the light moves across the canvas. His subject matter focuses on organic forms, taking inspiration from fauna. In his paintings, Kroes translates nature into recognizable symbols and rhythmic patterns. He has been widely exhibited across the Netherlands.
