Joana Schneider
Joana Schneider is a German artist born in Munich in 1990. Upon graduating from the Royal Academy in the Hague, she moved to Amsterdam for work. She focuses on creating sculptural environments and installations using sustainable products. Her material-based approach pays tribute to labor-intensive techniques. Her textile craft adopts techniques such as embroidery and tapestry making, taking inspiration from traditional practices such as net making in the fishery. Schneider’s works represent powerful femininity with the goal to praise and empower women. Winner of the “Keep an Eye Textile & Fashion Award’’ in 2018, she has exhibited widely across Europe and North America.
