Jiyan Düyü
Jiyan Düyü is a Dutch audio-visual artist born in 1995 in Turkey. Upon graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, her graduate project “Birds Fly Back” has participated in the Best of Graduates 2022, and won the Lakeside Collection Award 2022. Her work often touches the themes of family, loss, and loneliness. Working with a documentary-like style, she Düyü explores her roots, and the ways they shaped her life path. Her work is best known for the intuitive approach: her projects stem from the installation format, and the subject is only defined later in the process. Working with numerous screens, Düyü integrates the viewer into the video installation. Such an approach defines her work as intimate, spontaneous, and playful. Her work has been exhibited at Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Eye Filmmuseum and won the Dutch Film Fund Wildcard at the Nederlands Film Festival.
