Jan van Lokhorst
Jan van Lokhorst studied at Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. He is mostly known for his colorful abstract paintings inspired by the interference of music. van Lokhorost even says that he can hear the music of the artwork while he is painting. His style is predominantly influenced by the abstract expressionism of Willem de Kooning. But, the lyrical nature of his pieces distinguishes his works from the others. He received the biennial prize from the city of Gouda in 1981, where he currently lives. His works are commissioned by several governmental and independent institutions.
