David Roth
David Roth is an Austrian visual artist born in 1985 and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the class of Daniel Richter. His artistic practice is focused on long-term research into the origins, processes, and manifestations of painting. For him, the materials involved in art creation, such as used brushes and a cleaning cloth, are just as valuable as the final product of the process. Continuously destructing and debating the boundaries of constituents of a painting, Roth explores the performative and structural qualities a painting can possess. His works are held in esteemed collections, such as Landesmuseum Burgenland, the AkzoNobel Art Foundation, the Aksenov Family Foundation, and the Luciano Benetton collection.
