Kevin Osepa’s interest in the African diaspora and spirituality is greatly transmitted in his work “Blou Blous”. The photography shows a young adult, covered in bright blue colour kneeling in ankle high water. Although his face is kept hidden, his posture transmits a calm, almost transcendental atmosphere. The vibrant blue colour, dominating the scene, invites the viewer to emerge into the moment and enter the realm of inner thoughts, as if the boy advocates for his audience to join him on his spiritual journey. Barefoot and shirtless, he expresses vulnerability, yet gratitude towards the water and bows to the forces of life. Osepa takes his audience onto an immersive experience through his conscientious interplay of colour, scenery, and storytelling.
