The Dutch artist Charline Tyberghein is known for her particular use of Brussels surrealism. She makes use of geometric patterns and symbols to create optical illusions resulting in abstract representations of trivial objects. Her playful handing of comedy and tragedy is not necessarily tied to the motives of her pieces but is also reflected in their titles. “Unapologetically sorry” captures this interplay of opposing formulations yet combining both creates the essence of the artwork.
