Jan Kuhlemeier
Jan Kuhlemeier is a Dutch visual artist born in 1993. Fascinated by the
natural phenomena, he tries to grasp the physical geographical qualities of
the elements. His work encompasses natural energies, motions, and colors
of personal experiences of landscapes. Paint for Kuhlemeier is a medium
to grasp the elusive into a tangible, visual product, and capture the play of
light he encounters in nature. Using gel mediums as a base, he combines
different pigments, sometimes transparent or opaque, and influences the
underlying layers. This complex compositional structure creates a dialogue
between each layer, characterized by depth and reflection. Kuhlemeier’s
work is a result of ongoing research on the interaction between surfaces,
material, and the movement of its application.
