Richard Meitner
Richard Meitner is an American glass designer born in Philadelphia in 1949. He is best known for his glass sculptures, combining glass with other materials such as enamel paint, metal, wood, and ceramics. Meitner turns blown glass shapes into playful sculptures, adding existing objects. Central to his artistic originality is the difficulty to capture his style in a particular approach. Taking inspiration from French surrealism, science, popular culture, and personal background, he consistently creates in a differentiating art style. His artworks have been exhibited in many notable institutions such as Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the Museums of Glass in the United States.
